The Problem

Formula High School required additional brake distribution blocks for a student-built race car.

The existing part needed to be copied precisely so the new components would match the vehicle build, and perform as required. For small race car components like these, clean machining, repeatability and correct installation matter.

The Engineering Solution

Pinney Engineering Services reverse engineered the existing brake distribution block and CNC machined 20 new units.

Once manufactured, the parts were sent out for blue anodising to match the Formula High School race car. This gave the finished components a clean, durable appearance while keeping the parts consistent with the rest of the build.

This was a practical example of CNC Machining for Race Car Parts where the job needed accuracy, repeatability and a finish that suited the vehicle.

The CNC Machining for Race Car Parts Result

The finished brake distribution blocks were machined, anodised and ready for the Formula High School Race Car Build Program.

The students build the racing car as part of their Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, before testing and racing against other schools at the end-of-year event.

Now the parts are on file and can be produced upon request whenever they need more.

Pinney Engineering Services was glad to support the Formula High School Race Car Build Program and the students involved in bringing the car together. You can learn more about the program through Formula High School and CEA Group.
